Through Grandma’s Eyes: The Birthday

“I will be the gladdest thing under the sun!

I will touch a hundred flowers and not pick one!”

-Edna St. Vincent Millay-

journal entry:

Lydia can pick this flower without disturbing the garden ! Pablo Picasso, the famous artist once said that it takes a very long time to grow young.  Maybe he was right. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we became more inquisitive, more trusting, more thoughtful, more believing, more patient, more curious, more grateful, more spontaneous, more hopeful and more creative as we grew older?   Lydia is growing older but isn’t her “growing older” pretty and sparkly and full of ribbons and flowers and sprinkles and bracelets and necklaces and headbands and fluffy things?  I feel younger just being invited to her birthday party !

“We do not need magic to change the world.

We carry all the power we need inside ourselves already;

we have the power to imagine better !”

-J.K. Rowling-
