When little Maya sees anything soft and simple she says “Ohhhhhhhhh” with a tender affection. That is how I knew that this little dolly quilt, pillow and a cuddly deer were perfect little gifts for her 4th birthday.
A Dolly Quilt is fun to make because it takes so little time and is used and loved until it is outgrown or falls apart from washing. A little, overstuffed pillow is also easy to make and it is delightful to use the backing and the pillowcase fabric as a contrast to the top.
Oh, the sweetness of Bambi is captured on this wonderful fabric. I used my sewing machine to sew front to back in waving lines through lightweight batting and made a binding bias strip out of a third fabric. The binding is added by hand using a blind stitch.
Such is the old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words.
