Red White and Blue Tutu

“For what avail the plough or sail,

or land or life, if freedom fail?”

-Ralph Waldo Emerson-

journal entry:

Afton’s mommy says that she has discovered flouncy things.  She loves beads and baubles.  She wears ALL of the necklaces in the toy room at the same time.  The only thing Afton won’t wear is something in her hair.  One day I got her to hold still long enough to put two small bows in her hair.  I had to sacrifice some lip gloss to do it.   When those July 4th bands start playing . . . Afton will be ready to dance !   Tutus are so easy.  So fun.  So inexpensive.  I like to make them REALLY full and fancy.  I especially like the red flower !

“A toddling little girl is a center of common feeling

which makes the most dissimilar people

understand each other.”

-George Elliott-
