Apron for a Friend

My friend is moving. She didn’t really want to. She is making the best of things. I admire that in a person. She is kind of a crafty, retro, sentimental person so I was quite sure that she would like a full and funky USEFUL apron for her new kitchen.

So, I made one.

The big pocket in the front is sewn up the middle, so that there are really two pockets. Seems to me that you could walk around the kitchen or the whole house for that matter, stuffing things in your pockets and carrying them to their new proper place.

I especially love the pocket fabric. I bought it from Broadbents just before the store closed. It was the most wonderful quilt shop, in a store which had been in Lehi since 1885. I love to mix and match prints and colors for aprons, so I had so much fun with this one. I made the “apron strings” long so that she could tie a very serious bow at the back.

I hope that in the midst of the unexpected and unpleasant, she will at least have a happy apron to make her smile.
