Pirate Fun – Arggggh

It is that time again. Not Halloween

but our

Annual Family Gathering.

I love to surprise the grandchildren with unexpected challenges and so,

they will take a crack at being PIRATES !

I have a bushel basket for the boys and one for the girls. Almost everything has been thrifted and I have been very lucky to find some wonderful pirate treasures.

Above are the pirate t-shirts for the girls. I used a Melonheadz image I found on the Internet to make these iron-ons. The shirts were $2.97 at Wal-Mart. The girls will haveĀ  bright pink bandanas to tie around their heads and an equally pink eye patch.

The boys will have scary, pirate skeleton shirts shown above to sail around in. They will hunt for treasure with compasses and steer their imaginary ship into dangerous waters.

(I buy Jolee brand iron-ons at JoAnns with a coupon. They come 10 in a package for $7.99 minus the 40% coupon.)

Each group will have a BIG pirate flag, compasses, face paint, a treasure chest, maps, and a real spyglass to keep an eye (ha-ha) on each other.

There will be parrots for shoulders, face paint for whiskers

and little pirate cheek tattoos.

Do you think anyone will walk the plank ?

(This admonition from Mr. Maurice Sendak might be a good thing to remember.)
