“Best wide-angle lens? Two steps backwards and then wait for the ahhh-hahh!”

journal entry:
It always tickles me when my children ask me to take their pictures. I take that to mean that I must be making progress. In a world where many people can have nice cameras and take perfect pictures, I appreciate being able to fill my scrapbooks with photographs I have taken myself. I wonder why it took so long for people to figure out that candid and relaxed is better than posed with matching shirts and dresses. It is the casual nature of today’s photography that I love. And the cost ? Almost nothing. I use Picasa and have a photo printer. No sitting fees. No family groups through the eyes of a man with a squeaky toy in the face of the kids. Just Grandma. Snapping away.
Practice, practice, practice. I still struggle taking photographs indoors. But outside, on a day like this one, it is almost impossible to make a mistake ! So, say cheese !
“Good photographs are like good jokes. If you have to explain them, they’re not very good.”
