“That boy is your company.
And, if he wants to eat up that tablecloth, you let him. You hear?
And, if you can’t act fit to eat like folks, you can just set here and eat in the kitchen.”
Calpernia to Scout
To Kill a Mockingbird
Just a quick thought about tablecloths. The easiest of sewing projects. A tablecloth can make all of the difference in the world when “spreading” a holiday table.
It used to be that no one with any domestic savvy would set a table without one. That is why there are so many retro-tablecloths floating around.
I wanted a large square tablecloth because my kitchen table is, well . . . square. Did you know that you can’t buy square tablecloths? I couldn’t choose between these four quilting fabrics. So. I bought one yard of each and sewed them together. Then I folded the almost- square opposite corner to opposite corner and trimmed it to a square. I added a border of big red rick-rack and ironed it nice and smooth. (8 yards of rick-rack which is 3 1/2 packages)
I am ready for July.
Around here we celebrate not only the 4th but the 24th . . . our State holiday. Red, white and blue reigns for one entire month.
{And, my family is coming !}
Easy. Easy. Easy.
