The Little Turtle
Vachel Lindsay
There was a little turtle. He lived in a box.
He swam in a puddle. He climbed on the rocks.
He snapped at a mosquito. He snapped at a flea.
He snapped at a minnow and he snapped at me.
He caught the mosquito. He caught the flea.
He caught the minnow.
But, he can’t catch me !
Here is the second post titled Summer Puppets.
You have already met some very big puppets
but now you will meet some very small puppets.
Oh, these critters are already very good friends. Here is a little dinosaur and a beautiful fish with a very big snout. They may seem like unlikely friends to you but they go everywhere together and they speak a secret language. Do you believe it? Maybe the dinosaur is just waiting to eat the fish or maybe the fish is waiting to take the dinosaur for a swim in a very cold lake.
What do you think? Is there a better story?
My, my. Who are these colorful characters? I don’t know their names but I think they look like the colors in a new box of crayons.
Put your ear close to them. I think they are whispering.
This little Meerkat is a favorite of mine. He is best friends with a little wolf cub.
Are they twins? Be Thinking.
Oh. A Lady Bug and a baby Turtle. Did you read the poem at the beginning of this post? Little hands will fit right inside of these two. All I know is that they both like pizza and smoothies. Oh, and pretzels and slurpies.
What do you think about that? Could that be true?
Ask your mommy and daddy to help you make up a puppet show using your favorite puppets. Grandma and Grandpa will have a puppet theater for you when we have our Summer Gathering. You can pick your favorites and tell everyone your stories.

( Remember: All animals have been lovingly thrifted, washed and dried until fluffy.
Each has a glove or stocking sewed to its back or tummy so that little hands can fit inside and make the puppet move. )
My favorites are the fox and the turtle.
